Cafe on the Corner in Lookout Mountain, TN

Without any conscience intent, I seem to have started searching for good burgers at restaurants, especially restaurants located in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area.  So far, the cheeseburger that I had for my last birthday is the winner. I ate this wonderful burger at a small, local cafe atop Lookout Mountain in the very small city of Lookout Mountain, TN.

The double patty on a fresh, toasted quality bun had cheese and juices oozing out as I took my first bite. It was obvious that the burger had not been made with some frozen mass-produced burger from a box. The patties were thick and perfectly cooked. The only issue I had with it was actually getting that first bite because the tower of a burger almost did not fit into my normally big mouth…almost.

Before the burger and other entrees are served, all meals begin with a small pan of cornbread.  Unlike much of the restaurant cornbread I have had here in the South, this cornbread is not dry.  Instead, it is more like a moist cake even without the knob of butter that comes atop it.

My husband opted for the fried fish and Cole slaw.  He said the batter was light and the fish was very good.

My daughter ordered one of her favorite foods, macaroni and cheese.

While there are several tourist attractions nearby, the restaurant has been predominantly filled with locals every time I have been there. The service is friendly and prompt. The atmosphere is cozy. The food is tasty. A nice place to eat a birthday dinner in a relaxed atmosphere.
