Diner, Drive-Ins and Dives: The Book

I love the Food Network program Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. I love the concept, the host, and the execution. Most of all though, I love the places they feature.

However, I was not sure I would even like a book about the television show. For me, much of the appeal of the show is the interaction between Guy Fieri and the owners/cooks featured on the show. Wouldn’t a book just be about trying to further capitalize on the show’s success? Could it actually be enjoyable and useful enough to part with hard earned cash?

Well, the book may just be to capitalize further on the show, but it is very well done.

The book has a similar feel to the television show. It contains stories and pictures about the various establishments. It even includes one I am familiar with Hillbilly Hot Dogs in West Virginia.

In addition, it has recipes for things that you actually may want to make. The recipes include Captain Crunch French Toast, Blue Ribbon Cinnamon Rolls, and Greek Meatballs. There are many more.

As for parting with your hard earned cash? Well, that has to be your decision. For me, yes for the right price. I want to use the recipes, not just read the book.

There is a sequel(?) to this book, but I have not read it yet. My assumption is that it is as good as the first book, but I can not say for sure:)
