Orange Cream Gelatin Dessert

Orange Cream Gelatin Dessert is an easy dessert that you can make from a few items in the pantry and freezer at any time of the year. It works well for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Mother's Day, bridal or baby showers, etc. It is sweet and rich, yet somehow also seems light and refreshing. It is a rather nostalgic dessert as it reminds me a little of an orange push-up ice cream treat from my childhood. Plus, it is a molded gelatin dessert, which always reminds me of the past. Basic Buttercream Frosting

This frosting is a simple classic. it is easy to spread for a “crumb coating,” a filling between layers, and to frost an entire cake.

Recipe: Basic Buttercream Frosting

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 c. soft (room temp) unsalted butter
  2. 3 1/2 c. sifted confectioners’ sugar
  3. 1/8 tsp. salt
  4. 3 – 4 Tbsp. milk, half and half or light cream
  5. 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract*

Instuctions

  1. Beat butter, salt, and sugar on medium with the beater attachment in a stand mixer or in an electric mixer.
  2. Add vanilla extract and 2 Tbsp. milk/cream.
  3. Continue to beat adding milk/cream a tablespoon at a time until desired consistency is reached.
  4. Frosting should be smooth and fluffy.
