Orange Cream Gelatin Dessert is an easy dessert that you can make from a few items in the pantry and freezer at any time of the year. It works well for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Mother's Day, bridal or baby showers, etc. It is sweet and rich, yet somehow also seems light and refreshing. It is a rather nostalgic dessert as it reminds me a little of an orange push-up ice cream treat from my childhood. Plus, it is a molded gelatin dessert, which always reminds me of the past. As with other gelatin and fruit dishes, someone might call this a "Jello salad" in the United States. However, this recipe uses an entire quart of orange sherbert in addition to gelatin, so I can not bring myself … Continue Reading about Orange Cream Gelatin Dessert

Sunrise Grill in Boone, NC
When I was young, in the days before the Internet and online reviews, when we traveled my parents made their restaurant selection based on how busy the restaurant looked. The more cars in a restaurant’s parking lot, the more likely we were to eat there. I still sometimes use this technique today. Our dining at […]

Duck Donuts
We had some of the best donuts when we visited Duck, North Carolina. We stopped by the original location of Duck Donuts as we were leaving the Outerbanks. Although parking was crowded and there was quite a line, it was worth it. As there box’s tag states, they were warm, delicious, and made to order. […]

Souvlaki GR Midtown NYC
Exhaustion, rain, and a sleeping teenage daughter resulted in us taking advantage of a perk of staying/living in Manhattan, restaurant delivery. We decided to order from a restaurant that we had heard positive things about just a couple of blocks from our hotel in Midtown, Souvlaki GR. Not only was it affordable, but it was also […]

Lookout Mountain Pizza Company
Friday nights are often pizza nights at my house. The end of the week often lends itself to having an easy take-out or eat-in pizza. However, I am also spoiled and very picky about what I think is a review-worthy pizza restaurant. Luckily, I have found one in Northwest Georgia that is very good, the […]

Quoc Huong Banh Mi Fast Food in Atlanta
Quoc Huong Banh Mi Fast Food is an unassuming looking restaurant located in a center along the famous Buford Highway in metro Atlanta. Don’t let its small appearance fool you. By at lunchtime, this quick-service eatery is beyond busy. It seems most people are there for the same thing, the Banh Mi sandwiches. Quoc Huong […]

Sno Cream in Knoxville
I kind of have a problem. I am kind of obsessed with one of our new discoveries, a wonderful place called Sno Cream in Knoxville, Tennessee. This local “mom and pop” shop is located conveniently close to I-75/40 (perhaps too conveniently located 🙂 ) in the Turkey Creek shopping area of Farragut. I am always […]

Fisherman’s Crab Deck
The Fisherman’s Crab Deck in Kent Narrows, Maryland has so many of the things I love about eating seafood on the Eastern Shore of Maryland: it is next to the water, has delicious food, and has open-air dining. Even from an interior table, the view of the bay and the boats docked next to the […]

Mist Poke Dessert Bar
Mist Poke Dessert Bar in Atlanta, Georgia is the kind of shop that seems to represent an entire line of food trends. It just so happens that my daughter and I love some of these trends, particularly rolled ice cream. We chose a mango ice cream base with mango pieces added for the rolls. We […]

Eldelwiess in Virginia
Eldelwiess restaurant was a pleasant surprise for me. The location near Saunton, Virginia just off of Interstate I-81 was not an area that I put much faith into finding good German cuisine. I was SO wrong. We enjoyed our meal on the first Sunday we stopped as we traveled through the area so much that […]

Pigeon Mountain Grill
In my continuing search for good hamburgers in the Chattanooga, Tennessee region, I found a great burger made from local, grass-fed ground beef at the Pigeon Mountain Grill in Northwest Georgia. The last time I ate there, I opted for the roasted broccoli as the side and it was delicious. The burgers are just one […]
