Orange Cream Gelatin Dessert is an easy dessert that you can make from a few items in the pantry and freezer at any time of the year. It works well for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Mother's Day, bridal or baby showers, etc. It is sweet and rich, yet somehow also seems light and refreshing. It is a rather nostalgic dessert as it reminds me a little of an orange push-up ice cream treat from my childhood. Plus, it is a molded gelatin dessert, which always reminds me of the past. Taconooga
I happened to be close to Taconooga’s Frazier Avenue location on business that finished before lunch. My husband and I decided to meet for a quick lunch. By the time he met me in the parking lot behind the restaurant, it was the lunch hour rush. I was afraid we might not even be able to get a table in the small establishment, but we did. The service was fast and friendly. Most importantly, the food was very good.
Taconooga is one of a handful of establishments in Chattanooga that sell what I consider to be authentic Mexican (or Latin American) tacos.
I had the Al Pastor tacos (pictured above) while my husband chose to try three different taco fillings. He also picked an Al Pastor along with Lengua (beef tongue) and Chorizo tacos. We liked all of the tacos we ordered. However, we were not brave enough to order the Cactus taco. Honestly, I am not sure it is my thing…yes, I am more likely to eat a beef tongue taco.
I really enjoyed their green tamale sauce. I am a wimp when it comes to heat, so keep that in mind if you love heat. There are other sauces available.
Good food, quick service, and very reasonable prices…I could not ask for more.
We are looking forward to another meal at Taconooga. Who knows, perhaps it will even be another lunch date!
