Orange Cream Gelatin Dessert is an easy dessert that you can make from a few items in the pantry and freezer at any time of the year. It works well for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Mother's Day, bridal or baby showers, etc. It is sweet and rich, yet somehow also seems light and refreshing. It is a rather nostalgic dessert as it reminds me a little of an orange push-up ice cream treat from my childhood. Plus, it is a molded gelatin dessert, which always reminds me of the past. As with other gelatin and fruit dishes, someone might call this a "Jello salad" in the United States. However, this recipe uses an entire quart of orange sherbert in addition to gelatin, so I can not bring myself … Continue Reading about Orange Cream Gelatin Dessert

Fantastic Franco’s Pizza
It is Friday. Friday is often pizza day at our house. However, I must admit I am not really looking forward to the frozen pizza that is on the menu for tonight. I would much rather be at Franco’s Pizza, Pasta and Subs in Harrisonburg, Virginia eating this: Their pizza is fantastic. There have just […]

Saving Money on Groceries
I don’t know about you but I always need my budget to stretch farther. I have been using printable coupon sites for a couple of years now and love them. In fact, I have been saving an average of 30 to 40 percent on my groceries over the past couple of years using printable coupons, […]

Fudgy No Bake Oatmeal Cookies
When we would take my maternal grandmother to visit her sister-in-law, my great aunt would always have these cookies and give me one. I loved them. To this day, I am not sure how she was able to make her big version of these cookies considering she was legally blind. However, she made the best […]

Coconut Macaroons
I love coconut macaroons, but I always bought them. This was my first attempt to make coconut macaroons. Turns out, they are fairly easy and very delicious. As they were not part of my family recipe collection or experience, they required some research. First, I went through many of my cookbooks, then I checked for […]

An Easy, Yummy Cookie: Lemon Whippensnappers
The Christmas baking season has officially started at my house. Every year at this time, I am reminded of the MASSIVE amounts of cookies, candy, and bread my mother would make. She gave it to anyone and everyone. We decided to start with one of her easiest and favorite cookies, Lemon Whippensnappers. They not only […]

Stuffin’ Muffins
A Holiday meal just would not be the same without sage dressing(stuffing). My family never stuffed the bird, thus we called the bread mixture dressing. I was told it was dressing because it was baked separately from the bird. However, I notice that the words are used interchangeably and maybe slightly regional. Several years ago, […]

Cranberry Relish versus Canned Whole Cranberry Sauce
My husband loves the canned cranberry sauce both the clear jelly and the one that contains whole berries. It was a holiday tradition for his family when he was young. My grandmothers and parents never bought it for our holiday dinners. They usually made cranberry gelatin salad. My mom also occasionally made cranberry relish sauce. […]

Barbecue Turkey Makes A Great Gathering
When we moved to this area a few years ago, we had Thanksgiving for about 17 family and friends before we had even unpacked everything (and we were missing a bed). I did not want to chance making everything, so I ordered a smoked turkey from a local barbecue restaurant. To my surprise when I […]

Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake is a Chocoholic’s Delight
This is my first guest post, sort of, I am actually writing it, but my brother-in-law did all the work. He made this cake for my sister’s birthday. He spent the entire morning in the kitchen, but I am told it was worth it. Apparently, this cake is beyond delicious. Both he and my sister […]
