Orange Cream Gelatin Dessert is an easy dessert that you can make from a few items in the pantry and freezer at any time of the year. It works well for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Mother's Day, bridal or baby showers, etc. It is sweet and rich, yet somehow also seems light and refreshing. It is a rather nostalgic dessert as it reminds me a little of an orange push-up ice cream treat from my childhood. Plus, it is a molded gelatin dessert, which always reminds me of the past. Quick Creamy Salad Dressing
My Aunt Eloise’s salad dressing has been a favorite of my husband since he tried it the first time. Of course, many of my family love her salad dressing. I feel very lucky that she shared her recipe.
This creamy, old-fashioned recipe is quick to make and does not require many ingredients. In fact, many of the ingredients are the same as for my mom’s delicious coleslaw dressing (and Aunt Eloise’s version as well).
Quick Creamy Salad Dressing
Ingredients
- 2 c. Miracle Whip
- 1 to 1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1/2 c. vinegar (I prefer cider vinegar)
- dash of salt
- 1/2 c. oil (canola, vegetable, or other neutral oil)
Instructions
- Combine Miracle Whip, sugar, vinegar, and salt.
- If making it in a quart jar, add oil and shake well.
- If making in a bowl, pour in oil as whisking or stirring the mixture.
- Store unused portion in the refrigerator.
Notes
If you do not have much Miracle Whip on hand and you have plenty of oil, here is a version I made that we think tastes great also. Just use the amounts of the ingredients listed below instead of in the above recipe. Follow the instructions above. Makes 1 1/2 pints of dressing.
1 c. Miracle Whip
3 Tbsp. granulated sugar
2 Tbsp. cider vinegar
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
2 c. canola or vegetable oil
